For years, the Volcafé Holding booked profits (and in some years losses) over an offshore letterbox company in Jersey. The profits, sometimes amounting to two-digit million figures, were thus turned tax-free. Volcafé stands as an example for many others and it illustrates how globalisation facilitates tax avoidance. The Asociación de Asistencia al Campesino demands that Volcafé as well as other companies pay the taxes correctly in the country where the added value is attained.
